Most window problems in Cape Coral are repairable: a fogged insulated glass unit can be replaced for about $250–$650 a pane, and a broken balance or worn latch for a few hundred dollars. Replacement only makes sense when the frame is corroded or several units are failing at once.

What we repair

Fogged or cloudy glass

Double-pane glass is sealed around the edge. When that seal fails, humid air gets between the panes and you see a haze or droplets you can’t wipe off. The fix is a new insulated glass unit made to size and set into your existing sash. The frame stays; only the glass changes.

Cracked or broken panes

Standard glass is replaced with a new pane or unit. Cracked impact glass is replaced with laminated glass that matches the window’s product approval, so the opening keeps its rating.

Sashes that won’t stay up or won’t move

Single-hung windows rely on balances, spring or block-and-tackle units hidden in the frame. When one fails, the sash slams down or refuses to lift. New balances restore it. Sticky sashes are usually dirt, dried lubricant or corroded tracks, which we clean and treat.

Locks, latches, cranks and keepers

Casement cranks strip, sweep locks loosen and keepers crack in the sun. Replacement hardware is matched to the window brand where parts still exist.

Leaks and drafts at the frame

Water staining on the sill or drywall often comes from the exterior perimeter seal, not the glass. Old sealant is cut out and the joint resealed. If the leak is coming through the frame itself, we will show you before quoting anything bigger.

Repair or replace: how we decide

We look at three things: the condition of the frame, the age of the window, and how many others in the house have the same problem. A sound frame with one failed part is a repair every time. A pitted, out-of-square aluminum frame from the house’s original build is not worth new glass. When it’s close, we price both so you can choose. If you go the replacement route, the window replacement page explains the process.

Window repair questions

Can fogged windows be fixed without replacing the window?

Yes. We replace the sealed glass unit inside your existing frame. Defogging kits that drill the glass don’t restore the seal or the insulating gas.

How long does a glass replacement take?

The glass is made to size, so there is a short wait for the unit. Fitting it takes under an hour per window.

Do you repair impact windows?

Yes. Cracked impact glass is replaced with laminated glass that matches the window’s approval, and hardware is serviced the same way as standard windows.

Is there a charge to look at a window?

Not for a measure or a repair estimate in Cape Coral. If you can send a photo first, we can often price it before we visit.
