We fit impact and replacement windows in Punta Gorda, driving up Burnt Store Road from north Cape Coral. A standard impact window typically costs $900–$1,800 installed, and we file the permit with the City of Punta Gorda or Charlotte County depending on where your home sits.

A city that rebuilt after Charley

Hurricane Charley came ashore at Punta Gorda in August 2004 as a Category 4 storm and damaged a large share of the city’s homes. Much of what you see today was repaired or rebuilt afterward, which means many Punta Gorda houses now have windows that are roughly twenty years old. Some were impact units from the start; many were standard windows protected by shutters. Both are reaching the age where seals fail, hardware wears and owners start pricing an upgrade.

Canal neighborhoods and their rules

Punta Gorda Isles and Burnt Store Isles are built around sailboat-access canals, and deed-restricted neighborhoods like these may have architectural review for exterior changes, including window styles, grids and frame colors. We check what applies before ordering so the windows that arrive are the ones that get approved.

Waterfront openings here face the same exposure as on the Cape: salt, sun and wind across open water. We rate canal-side windows and sliders for their real design pressure, and we lean toward corrosion-resistant hardware and Low-E glass on west and south walls.

Who issues the permit

Homes inside the city limits are permitted by the City of Punta Gorda; addresses outside them fall under Charlotte County. We confirm which applies to your parcel, file the product approvals, and meet the inspector at the end, the same process we follow in Lee County.

Slider and repair work too

Large lanai sliders are a feature of most canal homes here, and worn rollers are the most common call. Many can be fixed in one visit; see sliding glass doors. For fogged glass and balances, see window repair.
